DJ Derek - (Mumbai)
When I started dancing salsa in 2005, the first thing that captivated me
was the music. I would buy cds, and download music as much as I could. I
drove my wife crazy with that music; I'd be playing it all the time.
Ash was Djing at Zenzi one evening when he needed to step out for a few
minutes. He showed me which buttons I needed to push to queue the next
song, and that was it. I "convinced" (read as hassled) Ash to show me how
to operate the deck and started off playing as relief when Ash or Kaytee
needed a break. I'm happy to say that now I play with Ash and Kaytee at
all our Salsa-India nights!
I love watching people dance to the music I play. It makes me very happy
indeed to see people enjoying my blend of music. You are always more than
welcome to come up to me and ask me about the songs I play, or even to
just say hello. I still get goose bumps when I play a few selected songs
and that to me is amazing! I play with my heart. I love the music. I love
the vibe.
I would like to thank Ash for showing me everything I needed to know and
Kaytee for giving me the opportunity to play at all the Salsa-India
nights. I now feel very much a part of Salsa-India!
