Kaytee - Founder, Director
Kaytee is the founder and the heart and soul of Salsa India.
He lives and breathes Salsa and has had the courage and conviction to follow his dreams. Kaytee is a perfectionist, laying great emphasis on technique and also on attitude and interpretation of the music.
He calls his unique style ‘Karma-Salsa’.
Why?
Because ‘Karma’ is Kaytee’s real name.
Karma-Salsa as Kaytee likes to say, focuses on musicality, body movement and dancing through one’s body, mind and soul, in a dancer’s interpretation and representation of the instruments being played and feel of the music.
As each dancer has his or her own personality, so is Karma-Salsa synonymous with Kaytee’s panache and energetic yet fluid style.
Shaneen - Director
“I joined the Shiamak Davar Dance Company while in college and danced with him for several years. I then dabbled in Latin American and Ballroom dancing for a while, before discovering Salsa.
Salsa was a revelation; the nature of this dance requiring not just technique, but also a large input from the dancer in terms of attitude and personal style, which the inimitable Kaytee has perfected (it’s Karma-Salsa of course!). While dancing I feel completely alive and transcend the everyday world.
It’s great to be a part of Salsa India’s dreams.”
Yavit - Assistant Director (Delhi) It all started with an idea to try some thing new & some thing different, some thing that I had only watched on television & admired. Luckily for me , Salsa India happened to me just at the right time ...
Here I am , after 4 long years of fun filled dancing and now passing on the experiences that I have gathered over these years . It changed my life & I bet it can change any one's.
I was lucky to join Salsa India unlike lot of others who travel around to find institutes but had to make do with what they get .I feel that this is one of the best Institutes that a person can join & feel for, from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you Kaytee
Vineet - Operations Manager, Instructor (Mumbai)
“"Technique makes one a good dancer; But passion makes one an excellent dancer, Coz dancing with your feet is one thing, and dancing with your heart is another" is what I believe. I have always found the art of communicating with a partner without any verbal interaction quite fascinating. I ventured into the world of ballroom dancing and salsa; only to realize that salsa was where my heart wanted to be. Coming from a non-dancing background; it was quite a challenging task. I choose to follow my heart and live my passion. Today as an instructor and Operations Manager- Mumbai, it is my aim to spread the salsa virus and get people addicted to it. Viva La Salsa..!”
Sohini Mukherjee (Operations Manager) - Kolkata
"With no formal dance training but with a passion & love for dance I joined Salsa India Productions in April,08 right after my board exams. My intention was to fulfill my wants of learning salsa & to give myself a formal dancing background but little did I know that 3 months down the line I would be lucky enough to handle the operations work for Kolkata. Now not only am I part of the wonderful company but I get to grow as the company grows & ever since I joined SIP there has been no looking back.I am a more confident, responsible, hard-working person now than I ever was."

“I have been dancing salsa since 1997 and teaching it for the last six years. I have taught all over the U.K and was based at Super Mario's salsa club in London where I taught for 3 years. I moved to India in 2003 and have been teaching here ever since. While initially teaching on my own, I now associate myself with India’s top salsa school ‘Salsa India’.
An Actor by profession, I trained professionally at the ‘Drama Studio London’. I have acted in over twenty five TV commercials in India and am currently a part of the ensemble cast on ‘The Great Indian Comedy Show’.”

“I have been lucky enough to be introduced to dance at an early age. Performing on stage as a part of the Shiamak Davar Dance Company from the age of 14, what started off, as a hobby became a passion and a passion it remains. The invaluable training and discipline from that holds me in good stead. I chanced upon Ballroom and Salsa dancing while in the U.S. on holiday about 4 yeas ago and have been hooked ever since. To me dancing is an expression of who you are and it makes me happy. I hope to continue learning, sharing and surprising myself.”

“Sounds of feet sliding across wooden floors. Swish, step, tap, slide. The silent whirl of dancers, moving in an artless symphony of rhythm. A laugh, a nod, a smile. An understanding, a partnership, a synchrony- of emotion, feeling and a sense of divinity. What greater feeling can there be other than the harmony of two people connected by the simplicity of dance?
Salsa keeps me going. Everything I feel, I feel through the music. The music is therapeutic- it calms me, gladdens me, soothes me. My heart beats to the clave.
I’ve been a part of the Salsa India team since its inception in Mumbai, and it’s been amazing. Thank you Kaytee for inspiring us all.”

"Salsa is a poem, of which each movement is a word". When I walked into my first Salsa class, about 4 years ago, there was something about the Music that got me addicted. I am immensly proud and honoured to be working Kaytee, who I think has such abundance of talent and such vision of growth. Salsa India gave me a push to take off the ground and then even gave me the strength and freedom to spread my wings and fly.
To grow in my dance everyday is an experience both humbly and encouraging. Am a hard core Salsa Addict because "Movement Never Lies"... Viva la Salsa!
Santosh - (Mumbai)
Starting out with a passion for Dance, I choreographed and performed on Bollywood Music. Took a break for two years and got an opportunity to see the way people danced Salsa.I was immediately hooked onto it and enrolled
myself at a local school to learn the Basics of Salsa and then finally joined Salsa India as a trainee and now a full time Instructor.I have never looked back since then. Salsa has truely inspired me to strive for the best and helped me improve and make friends as well.Wanted to be the best, thats why I am with the best.

What more can a person who has been a workaholic for ever ask for - Salsa
.
Work timings of my profession can take away quite a few moments of
happiness
from you. One would really need some thing big & motivating
enough to
take you away from spending so much time there. Taking time out
would have
other wise been impossible, If not for Salsa, It's not Just A
Hobby But A Lot
More .the day I saw Kaytee salsa away at a social , the
inner me screamed out
to join Salsa ..Kaytee made it happen , with his encouragement &
the platform he provided
. You don¢t need to have any formal dance training
to make it to where
all of us have reached. Believe in yourself , dance
through your heart ,
feel the music & let the rhythm flow you through
..
I am addicted to Salsa & so proud to be an integral part of the
Salsa
India Team

"It's only an hour a week", is what I thought, when I started to learn
Salsa. Boy, did that turn out to be the biggest misconception of my
life! rom training my "non-clave" ears to understand and appreciate the
music to becoming an instructor with SIDC, it's been a fun 3 years. I
am proud to be ssociated with SIDC and Kaytee. It's added a whole new
dimension to my life and given me a new world to explore... a world
that is simply me and the music.

"What started as a short escape from work is now a full blown obession.
Salsa is a fascinating dance form and I find the understated
conversation of lead-and-follow often far more invigorating than any
intellectual discussion can be. It's my pleasure and privilege to be a
part of the Salsa India team to help spread the Salsavirus!"
Suraj Nangia - (Delhi)
My ordeal with this dance form started with being the only one repeating the basic level of salsa…and that hit me luckily so bad that perfecting the dance was the only option I was left with…I was salsaing wherever there was music not realizing how addictive I had become to this dance form…so I perfected it…performed at the fests…and thanks to Kaytee and Salsa India, here I am with almost a year and a half behind me salsaing 5 days a week (practically!!!)…this dance has taken over my all my socializing time…I don't need to dance at parties anymore!!…I can simply salsa!!!!…I owe it to Salsa India

"If I were to describe my journey with Salsa in a sentence, it would be "A
coincidence that is now an important incident in my life. It began when I
accidentally dropped into a salsa party at one of the clubs in Delhi. Ten
minutes of watching people dancing on the floor was all it took to convince
me to join up for classes. It will be something interesting to fill up my
weekends i told myself.Who would've thought that those weekend classes would
become a passion, that passion a habit, that habit... unchangeable! And yet
here I am 4 years later, teaching at the very institute where it all began
for me"
Sakshi - (Delhi)
Dance is where my heart lies..! its the one thing that makes me the
happiest! while dancing I feel like I transcend into a whole new
world, where i feel completely spirited and alive!!
Having learnt various dance forms like "Bharatnatyum, Bollywood

salsa the most fascinating!! which led me to join Salsa India in April
2005, where Kaytee, his love for salsa and his constant encouragement,
left me inspired!!Dance for me is not just 'a part of my life' its 'a
way of life'!!. I am very privileged to be a part of the Salsa India
Team, and im alsovery thankful to it, for enabling me to live my
dream!!
Anisha - (Delhi)
For me dancing has always been a part of who I am, yet never had it
occurred
to me to take it up professionally. From the moment I joined
Salsa India I
knew I wanted to grow as a dancer. Salsa India has given me
the confidence to
believe in myself as a dancer. Salsa has become the one
thing I thoroughly
enjoy and look forward to everyday..
Manik - (Delhi)
Dance… It completes me.. It is a way to reconnect with my body and soul, to
communicate in silence,
and to be present in the moment. Joining Salsa
India was a turning point in my professional life and my special thanks to
kaytee 4 making me realise my potentials. It all started with my
participation in the Lycra Award where I danced ecstatically, drunk with
pleasure, with no thought for anything, in the triumph of my efforts, in the
pride of my art, in a cloud of happiness, in
the completeness of a victory
so dear to my heart. And as they say there was no looking back after this… From
Passion for Dance to Dance of Passion(Salsa)… from Addiction for Dance to
Dance of Addiction… the journey was memorable..
Apurva Jalan - (Kolkata)
I was lucky enough to start dancing at a very early age. Started dancing at the age of 15 as part of my school dance team in various inter school fests and figured that this was something that I was most passionate towards. Left school and became part of one of Calcutta's best dance troupes but it wasn't something that I liked too much. So then I started training in Jazz-Ballet which did help me a lot in term of technique and body alignment. It was only in April 2007 that I started training in Salsa and fell in love with it and there has been no looking back since then. I hope to keep learning and sharing whatever I learn when it come to this beautiful form of dance.

“I Believe I was born to Dance”…..With the potential & the talent, what started off as a hobby became my career in the year 1997.As I stepped into the professional dance world I realized how dancing was my place of solace. Salsa was another stepping stone for me. Inspired by the movie “Dance With Me” I made my move towards salsa. After hearing about the Salsa India Festival (2006) I headed off to Delhi & since then there has been no looking back. Now Salsa India is an integral part of me & being an instructor with Salsa India has its special place in my life. My dream is to blend in my personal style with salsa & help spread salsa.
Dorothy - (Kolkata)
Dancing is in my blood. Having grown up dancing for various school & college events it was only too natural for me to join the professional dance world and I did so in the year 1997.My first step towards salsa was the 2007 Salsa India festival in Mumbai & the music, the sensuality & the moves never left me & so I decided to become a part of the Salsa India team. Now Amit & I have our vision of infusing our own style to salsa
Suman Sarogi - (Kolkata)
Its true that "certain things change your life completely" my introduction to Kaytee was the last thing that i remember which tied all my focus,my passion,my dream into one knot of salsa. Few years back as i recall, salsa was unfamiliar to me and now its been two years that i ended up becoming a Salsaholic. Salsa India has completely changed my life and given a new defination to it. The slogan "Why Dance When You Can Salsa" works best for me because just doing 5 classes with Kaytee he gave me an oppurtunity to perform in Salsa India Festival, 07 and i knew this is where i want
to be. Today as an Instructor it feels great to be a part of Salsa India and i wish to keep learning and exploring more and more .....
Rupani - Probationer (Delhi)
Ever since I remember I've been dancing but never made an effort to learn it Professionally. It was only when I joined Salsa India that I realized that
I have a lot of potential as a dancer. I am learning here and that's what I enjoy the most.
Ria - Probationer (Delhi)
Dancing has always been my first love.for me it was never just a hobby. I started performing and learning various dance forms
at a very early age
and was always curious to learn a lot more. As a probationer with Salsa India, I've been able to explore a lot
in international dance forms in a
very short span of time and now find myself growing every day as a better dancer.
Akshay Das - Probationer (Kolkata)
Dance being my biggest passion & after having danced for various Schools, Colleges & club events, I decided to learn Salsa & where better to learn than Salsa India. Now Salsa India has not only given me a platform of vast exposure but also an opportunity to train as an instructor. Around six months back I walked into my first salsa class, excited yet apprehensive. The addiction was instantaneous, and now I can hardly imagine a day without it. I have danced with other dance schools earlier, but Salsa India was the place that gave me the chance to learn from and watch some of the best salsa dancers in the world. Salsa for me is now an inseperable part of my life, and I feel honoured to be a part of the Salsa India team.
